Elizabeth and James: A West Sussex Engagement Shoot

When we asked Elizabeth and James where they’d like to have their engagement shoot, they decided to go back to the place where they first met – Great Walstead School.  It was a great choice, giving them a choice of settings to tell their story in such a charming way.  A perfect setting for this West Sussex engagement shoot.

We started by walking down to the woods in search of bluebells, stopping by a pretty gate on the way.  We were soon rewarded with a beautiful carpet of bluebells and snowdrops stretching out beyond us.  We were very careful to find little clearings where we could settle in for a few lovely shots.

We then walked back up to the main part of the school for some shots on the field and around the obstacle course.  The climbing frame was a particular favourite. Elizabeth showed us her gymnastic skills and James showed some skill with the cricket bat.  We finished with a few shots of James’ beloved (ahem) car and plenty of laughs in the warm sunshine.

We hope you enjoy the images.

Sophie and Tom’s Pembroke Lodge Wedding

We were introduced to Sophie and Tom via our friend, Carolanne Armstrong (MUA) through email as they were off on a six month world tour, organising their Pembroke Lodge wedding from the far reaches of the globe.  That is some task, but they managed to pull it off and ended up with a truly beautiful day.

The day started at a lovely little church in Twickenham, where Sophie’s parents were married (after a few relaxers at the nearby pub, of course…) then moved on to the stunning Richmond Park, Pembroke Lodge sitting right on the ridge and commanding spectacular views over the Thames.

After lovely drinks in the sun and a gorgeous dinner, the speeches began.  More and more brides are speaking at their weddings, a trend we wholeheartedly endorse.  Sophie chose this time to speak about Tom’s late mum and really brought her into the room with touching anecdotes about them getting to know each other.  When Tom’s brother, Blue, rose to speak as the best man, he was accompanied by a fantastic slide show, helping us all to get to know Tom very well (a little too well, maybe…) The speeches were very entertaining and, as always, added so much to the day.

We hope you enjoy the images.

Pembroke Lodge is a beautiful georgian mansion in the heart of Richmond Park. If you are planning a Pembroke Lodge Wedding, we would love to capture you day for you.  Contact us here for further details.

Virginia Water Engagement Photography with Jo and James

Jo and James wanted to have their engagement photography taken near water.  They love the water and a bit of nature and really wanted these elements to be incorporated into their engagement shoot.  When we suggested Virginia Water engagement photography, they loved the idea.  Frankly, so did we – it’s practically our back garden!

When couples do a bit of research themselves into what images they like and what looks good, it always helps.  Jo had seen some pictures she liked and brought them along and emulated the model’s colour scheme which worked perfectly.  The red scarf is the perfect little attention grabber – not overpowering but always there. And such a beautiful colour.

We spent a lovely morning walking about the lake, chasing swans and enjoying the spring sunshine.  It was the prefect day to make some gorgeous images.  Enjoy!

A Kew Gardens engagement shoot with Alicia and Gareth

When Alicia and Gareth suggested a Kew Gardens engagement shoot, we couldn’t have been happier!  The beautiful gardens in the spring with flowers everywhere – a classic metaphor for blossoming love and a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

In spite of the cold, we managed to find a few spring blossoms and plenty of daffodils to add some colour.  Of course, the geometric drama of the Palm House is a fantastic highlight.  In addition, there are always a few architectural treasures just around almost any corner.  We love the little temples hidden about!

Engagement shoots are a great way to get to know your photographer and to get used to having your photo taken before your wedding day.  Having a little more experience and confidence in front of the camera helps you make the most of the time you spend with your photographer.  It also gives you a lovely set of images of the two of you together and in love.  Many couples use these images at their wedding – it can add a lovely touch!

For your own Kew Gardens engagement shoot, why not contact us now? efc photography can capture any occasion for you at the location of your choice.  Quotes available on application.

Claire and James’ Fetcham Park Wedding

From the first time we saw Parallel Venues’ Fetcham Park, we knew we wanted to be a part of a Fetcham Park Wedding. We had worked with the team on their launch and a couple of other projects, so we were beyond thrilled to be asked by Claire and James to cover their wedding there in the early spring.

It was a cold day, but it mattered not as everyone was kept warm inside the beautiful house.  The details and features, the stairs, the murals and chandelier (to name but a few) were the perfect backdrops as we went about capturing the day.  Gayle from Bloomin’gayles added the floral touches, with beautiful bouquets perfectly matched to the amazing hue of the bridesmaids’ dresses.

It’s always a pleasure to work with such a bubbly couple like Claire and James.  Those happy, smiley images are always there waiting to be caught on camera, from the dramatic entrance down the staircase to the speeches under the chandelier and first dance in the grand hall.  It all makes our job that little bit easier and a lot more enjoyable. We hope you enjoy the images too.
